At 1 year you have 8 teeth and are beginning to get molars on your right side. You say mama now and are so happy. You get excited at the funniest things including Harper sneezing which sent you into a hysterical laughing fit.
You began walking at 14 mo. during a hurricane.. and I should have known then, you walking is like a hurricane. All over the place and into everything.
A week after your 1st Bday we moved into Grandmama and Big Daddy’s after our house sold quickly and we hadn’t yet made a plan. You caught on quick to the farm life. You love the horses and are always wanting to go outside to see them. And Harper has totally been replaced by your “Kitty Kitty” Patches. You love following him around the house and I credit him antagonizing you constantly with the extra motivation you needed to realize you can walk.
You still aren’t the best eater. Cheerios, pretzels, granola bars, yogurt and ice cream for the win. Just last night you destroyed some cream corn so that may have to make it into the rotation as well.
At 7 months you have become a little person to me. You hold up your arms to be picked up, recognize so many familiar faces, look like a little bird holding your mouth open for another spoonful of food, and hoot like an owl if that spoonful takes too long getting to you mouth! you eat so much, multiple nights you down 3- 4oz jars of baby food and look like you want more..
You laugh when I laugh and have random spurts of nonstop chatter. Overnight you mastered how to sit up on your own.. from nothing to never toppling over… AMAZING. You love to be on the go and let us take you with us wherever without a problem. The amount of time you spend simply studying your surroundings is so cute.
The sleep is still the same, 1 wake/night about 2:30am to nurse and go back down. You’re consistently going to bed at 8pm though that is nice.
Love you little bird.
This weekend was Bryan’s 32nd Birthday and we went to St George Island for th Chili Cookoff. Grandmama, Seve and Heather went with us and we had a sun filled weekend.
We wandered the cookoff, spent some time on the beach, ate amazing food Grandmama prepared and had parent time at the Eli show.
Tripp has been to St George before back in August for Pops’ birthday but with the temp and being only 4 weeks old we didn’t take him to the beach so this was his first time in the sand. He loved it… The sand, the water, and most of all watching Harper run around wild.
He has truly become the biggest blessing of our lives. He continues to grow, amaze and teach me daily.
My 27th Birthday was last week and Bryan and I had been talking about taking a weekend vacation as my gift. We went back and forth on to go or not and to where and the conversations seemed to come to a dead end. Randomly Tuesday afternoon he called and asked if I still wanted to go to the mountains and could I get off work Thursday and Friday. To cut it short we took off Thursday at 6am headed for a home we rented in Highlands, NC.
We made the road trip pretty successfully considering having a 6mo old teething baby in tow!
First stop, lunch at the Dillard house. Oh memory lane! I remember going there many times as a child.
We made it to our weekend home and were so happy to see the snowstorm week prior had left us a winter wonderland. This was Harper’s first time to the snow too
Most of the trip we spent exploring mountain roads, drove to Franklin, Cherokee and Maggie Valley.
We ate in a few meals and just enjoyed some quality family time away! Tripp is breaking his 2nd tooth and really just enjoyed his daddy time. He was also mesmerized by the fireplace.
We hadn’t really done much so decided to try out Bryan’s fly fishing abilities… He didn’t catch anything but it was nice to be outside on a gorgeous Saturday in the mountains!
All in all, a great family weekend!
Rolled over 4 1/2 months old and can push up on hands to lift head very well. Started rolling front to back and back to front about the same day! You are so proud of yourself when you roll over, especially when there is a crowd around and you get a big applause.
Your 4 month shots got pushed back a few weeks due to you fighting your first cough and cold courteous of daycare. You also had pink eye for a few days but mom fought it for 3 weeks. At your checkup which was 1 week shy of 5 months you were 19.4 lbs and 26 1/2 in long. You are 90% in height and 97% in weight. Gonna be a big boy!!
Dr recommendation is to wait until 6 months for food, but at 5 months we decided you seemed to be starving, lounging for our dinner plates and curiously watching each bite of food and drink we took. Your first food was baby oatmeal cereal but that didn’t last long. School noticed you were getting food and commented that you “may need more” as you were finishing all your bottle and seems to still be wanting. We began sending food to school and your appetite quickly progressed with bananas, apples, peaches, sweet potatoes, and green beans. So far you love everything except the peaches. You especially like the banana oatmeal cereal!!
At 6 months you weigh 22.8 lbs and are 28in tall. You eat 2.5 oz in the morning 4oz at lunch and another 5oz for dinner. Growing, hungry boy!!
This month, probably in part to the food your sleep schedule has started to regulate. You sleep well in the crib at school now and have made a few 8 hour stretches at night, the first of which dad got to enjoy as mom was out of town for work. You regularly sleep 8p-1a, nurse then sleep until 5a. Sometimes we put you in the bed with us to finish off the morning, love baby cuddles!
Your first tooth is coming in, bottom right and the bottom left isn’t far behind. Your hands are constantly in your mouth and that grin is adorable!
